Taking the back seat

This site began after years of working as a photojournalist — in reportage, in documentary work, in the kind of photography that asks you to show up, pay attention, and stay honest about what you saw.

Along the way, a pattern became hard to ignore. There are more photographers now than there have ever been. And fewer and fewer places for good photography to actually be seen — read closely, considered seriously, given room to mean something.

This site is an attempt to close that gap.

We're not here to be the story. We've spent enough years behind the camera to know what it takes to make an honest photograph, and we'd rather spend the next stretch helping other people's work find an audience than adding more of our own to the pile. That's the back seat, on purpose.

What we're looking for is simple: photography that deserves attention and hasn't found it. Across genres. Across borders. Regardless of who's already watching.

That's the whole premise. Everything else is in service of it.
